The Wise Man and The Foolish Man

Posted by Kiki Riki on Saturday, June 30, 2012

Today's story is about sand, rock and two builders.  Jesus was telling a story to explain what it means to obey Him.

He explained that when we hear His words and do what they say we are like a wise man who builds his house on the rock.

An example of hearing God's words and doing what they say is like hearing in Sunday School that we need to love our neighbor like we love ourselves.  Then the next day you notice that one of the kids at school is crying and upset on the playground and kids are la...

The Unmerciful Servant

Posted by Kiki Riki on Saturday, June 23, 2012

This whole parable begins because of a question Peter asks Jesus.  The question went something like this: "Lord, how many times should I forgive my brother or friend when he does something mean to me?  Up to seven times?"

Jesus answered him, "I tell you, seven times is not enough but forgive them as many as seventy seven times."

Jesus Heals The Paralyzed Man

Posted by Kiki Riki on Saturday, June 9, 2012

Today's story is about a man who was paralyzed.  Being paralyzed meant that he couldn't walk and probably couldn't use his legs.  He would've had to sit or lay down all the time.

Just think for a minute how hard it would be to do things if you couldn't walk around.  How would you go to the bathroom?  What kind of games would you play?  How easy would it be to make friends?

This story actually took place a few days after Jesus had touched a man who had leprosy and made him better.  Jesus was goi...

Jesus is Baptized

Posted by Kiki Riki on Saturday, June 2, 2012

There once was a man named John the Baptist, who actually was one of Jesus cousins.  He became a preacher and was telling others to ask for forgiveness for things they had done wrong.  He wanted to help others change their lives so they could become like a brand new person inside.

He was doing this not to be better than Jesus, but to help Jesus.  By preaching to others to feel bad for their mistakes, to ask for forgiveness, and by teaching that they needed God in their life he was preparing th...

The Sower and The Seeds

Posted by Kiki Riki on Saturday, May 26, 2012

While Jesus was with his disciples and went around teaching to all the crowds who came to hear him, He often spoke in parables.  A parable isn't a true story, it's a story that Jesus made up to teach a lesson.

Have you ever heard of the story of Goldie Locks and the Three Bears?  How about the Three Little Pigs?  These stories are easy to remember, just like a parable.  Jesus told them so the people would remember them.

The difference between children's stories and parables is that children's s...
